Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft

Established on a former RAF airfield by enthusiasts in 1969, when trolleybuses had virtually disappeared from British roads, the Trolleybus Museum now has the largest collection of preserved examples in the world.

Drawing power from overhead lines, like trams, but without being restricted to rails these were the original pollution-free vehicles.

Situated about 9 miles from Doncaster, the Museum is open on selected weekends between Easter and November.

Most of our open days have special themes, but on all of them you can enjoy rides on a selection of our restored vehicles; there’s also a 7¼ inch gauge railway, children’s play area, a Toy Museum, a Cycle Museum and replica pre-fab home of the early postwar period.

Most of the Museum is fully accessible and on some open days we run our wheelchair-accessible trolleybus, the first in the UK. There’s also a café, serving snacks and light meals and a museum shop.
